Pastor Benny began as our Interim Pastor in July 2026. A native of Spartanburg, SC, Benny is familiar with the area and began his ministry here. He surrendered to God's call on his life at the age of 16. He graduated from Spartanburg High School and by 1971, he began serving in vocational ministry here at First Baptist Cowpens.
Benny has served in various ministry roles. From local church pastorates, to interim pastorates, to even spending some time overseas. He holds an Associate of Arts from North Greenville, a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Baylor University, and a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He also currently serves on the board of trustees at Anderson University, Dove Broadcasting, and Apalache Christian Academy. Benny also hosts the weekly television program, "Pastor Benny Presents."
He was married to his beloved wife, Magaly for over 53 years until she passed away in February 2026. He has two children and three grandchildren.
Benny is also a licensed pilot, an avid golfer, and loves to play music!
